Before digital cameras came along, you had to set your "F stop" to the proper setting to have the right exposure for your photos. There was a saying among photojournalists: "F8 and be there."--set your camera to F8, and get to the scene ready to go. Not that much has changed, really.

Welcome to the Observer's Photo Blog

Truth be told, I wanted to be a photojournalist when I grew up.

Quotes

"If your pictures aren't good enough, you aren't close enough."

"The pictures are there, and you just take them."

Town and Country

This 1950s vintage Chrysler station wagon is a rare sight--although station wagons are being seen more and more at car shows and cruises.

As was common in the 1950s and 1960s, the car is decorated with much chrome.

A closer look at what the classic car hobby calls "bright work."

Chrysler's minivans still bear the title "Town and Country" as both a homage to the generations before and a true note that the wagon/minivan is useful in both "Town" and "Country."
