Before digital cameras came along, you had to set your "F stop" to the proper setting to have the right exposure for your photos. There was a saying among photojournalists: "F8 and be there."--set your camera to F8, and get to the scene ready to go. Not that much has changed, really.

Welcome to the Observer's Photo Blog

Truth be told, I wanted to be a photojournalist when I grew up.

  1. Dear The Observer,
    Aw, he is a darling!
my BoyCat is mostly black, little fringes of white, and topaz eyes.

    There's just something about a BoyCat . . .

  2. Ann T:
White on the belly and chest? I love the faithful little groups of white hairs that some black cats have.
BoyCat has developed freckles on his nose, three of them. They look like pen dots. One is visible on this photo. Such colorings on the nose and lips are not uncommon in orange kitties. It makes him even more adorable.
    The Observer, radiating pet pride.
