F8 and Be There

Before digital cameras came along, you had to set your "F stop" to the proper setting to have the right exposure for your photos. There was a saying among photojournalists: "F8 and be there."--set your camera to F8, and get to the scene ready to go. Not that much has changed, really.

Patriot Guard Riders

There were rumors that the Phelps clan (I just flat refuse to call this organization a church) would try to disrupt or protest John Glaser's funeral. The Patriot Guard riders were invited to support the event and to provide protection from the protesters. I am happy to report that there were no protests.

The Riders brought up the rear of the procession. Here (below) they are at the 135 Street/Quivira Road turn and here (above) turning off of Roe Avenue onto the church property.

A Patriot Rider takes a bit of video of fire fighters and others entering the church before the service.


One rider posts a reminder on his bike of why they are riding THIS day.

    1. I am with you on the Phelps Commune. They are not a church.

    2. What nice people.

    3. I am going to link this organization on my motorcycle club page as another example of a lawful MC--and will link this post as well, sometime this weekend.

    RE: 2 &3 above---I knew what you meant! :-)

    I knew that there were organizations of motorcyclists that had arisen since the Phelps Commune started their protests, but this was the first time I met any of them or saw them in action first hand!
