Before digital cameras came along, you had to set your "F stop" to the proper setting to have the right exposure for your photos. There was a saying among photojournalists: "F8 and be there."--set your camera to F8, and get to the scene ready to go. Not that much has changed, really.

Truth be told, I wanted to be a photojournalist when I grew up.

Post Storm Clouds

These clouds remained after the 2+ inches of rain on Tuesday. This view is looking west, and the setting sun and a lightening flash are providing back light.

  1. Dear The Observer,
I know this is about threat, but all i can think is 'beautiful for spacious skies' when i look at this.

In this shot, at least for that moment, the threat had passed.

As to the skies, these midwestern skies are different from eastern skies. I have come to love them as much as the northeast. It takes an adjustment to return home sometimes--vistas just look different.

    What a country!!!
