F8 and Be There

Before digital cameras came along, you had to set your "F stop" to the proper setting to have the right exposure for your photos. There was a saying among photojournalists: "F8 and be there."--set your camera to F8, and get to the scene ready to go. Not that much has changed, really.

Water, Water, Everywhere

More shots of the Blue River, out of its banks, flooding areas around the Red Bridge.

Water in the trees at the entrance to Minor Park.

Water around the heavy equipment for the new bridge construction parked at the Minor Park entrance.

Water fills the area around this picnic shelter and parking area, which is lower than the road I'm standing on to take the photo. A mind boggling amount of water! Today, the river is back in its banks and an 18 wheeler was parked in the parking area near this shelter. It would have been up to its roof in water during the flood. Wow!

    Doesn't it change your view of spaces? And it's ephemeral. Just amazing.

    Ephemeral! The perfect word. One day, a park. Then a day, it's a lake. Then it's a park again, grass still green, trees still there. Wasn't it filled with water...?
